About the route
A 43 km asphalt loop through the hills and the Bednja valley. It passes below Čevo peak, along the walls of Bela Castle and past the Belski Dol spring, with the final stretch through Topličica and its outdoor pools. Suitable for trekking and road bikes.
A route for trekking and road cyclists alike, leading through some of the most beautiful countryside around Novi Marof and opening the way to the area’s most interesting natural and historical sights.
From the centre of Novi Marof it takes you through picturesque scenery, across the hills and the valley of the River Bednja to the north-west and west of the town. Along the way you will pass Čevo peak, known to local hikers as the “Zagorje Klek”, tackle a few short climbs, enjoy views of the walls of Bela Castle and refresh yourself at the well-kept Belski Dol drinking-water spring.
The Belski Dol spring is about 28.5 kilometres from the start, right before a four-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 3.5 per cent – a good place for a break before the only serious section.
The final section passes through Topličica, home to a popular outdoor swimming complex. The entire route is on asphalt, so it suits trekking and road bikes equally well.
