The six bunkers hidden in the woods around Novi Marof are a reminder of the time when the world lived in the shadow of the Cold War. They were built in concealed spots with a good view of the surroundings, as part of the defence network of this strategically important area.
Fortunately, the Cold War never turned “hot”, so for decades the bunkers stood as silent witnesses to a world divided into blocs, and over the years nature has increasingly reclaimed them.
