Ivan Rabuzin is a renowned painter of Croatian naïve art who found inspiration in the green hills and countryside around Novi Marof. He was born in the village of Ključ near Novi Marof, where his house still stands – an architecturally outstanding building designed by the eminent Croatian architect Vjenceslav Richter.
The house contains a gallery displaying some of Rabuzin’s best-known works, from oils on canvas and watercolours to prints. Alongside the paintings is the porcelain he painted for the Rosenthal factory – the same one Salvador Dalí once worked for.
Every year the town holds Rabuzin Days in his honour, and the house is a must on any visit to the area.
